Sumitaku Kenshin was a haiku poet who practiced free-form haiku. He started writing poetry after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He dedicated the last 2 years of his life to haiku, leaving 281 poems, mostly published by the free-form haiku magazine Kaishi.
