Today we start a collaboration with poet and editor Iliyana Stoyanova. Iliyana, who I met in London last month at an event organized by the British Haiku Society, selected for Naviar a series of haiku written by Bulgarian writers: the first one, by Darina Deneva, is this week’s assignment.
Darina Deneva was born in 1969. Graduated from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” with a degree in Russian and English Studies. Freelance translator. She is one of the co-authors of a collection of haiku poems, Matchbox Boats, published in 2014.

This haiku poem is part of the Naviar haiku music challenge, where artists are invited to make music in response to a weekly assigned haiku poem. Participation is free and there are no limitations in the songs’ length or genre.
