Reginald Horace Blyth is mostly known for his work as a populariser of Japanese culture outside Japan: many contemporary Western writers of haiku were introduced to the genre thanks to his series of works on Zen, haiku & senryu poetry. Only two of Blyth’s own haiku are actually known, and today’s assignment is one of them.
