Springtime in Edo

a temple bell sold
Takarai Kikaku was one of the most accomplished disciples of Matsuo Bashō, famous also for writing a manuscript describing his master’s final days, and the immediate aftermath of his death.
The haiku I chose for this week’s challenge was used as the opening poem of a renku (collaborative linked poem) written by a group of international haiku writers to commemorate the 300th anniversary of his death.
