Naviarhaiku 063 – Like two spinning tops

Kyoshi dedicated this memorial haiku to Kawahigashi Hekigotou, who had passed away on January 1st, 1937. In his foreword Kyoshi wrote that though he and Hekigotou had been good friends, they had often disagreed over haiku. Like two spinning tops, the two poets drew close in friendship but also sharply repelled each other whenever they touched.
