Naviar Records – Sound Ripples

Sound Ripples is a sound installation by Marco Sebastiano Alessi. Inspired by the cultural legacy of the Ainu people, Alessi and members of the online music community Naviar Records reflected on the roots of their own local traditions, and created sounds inspired by the landscapes and stories of their respective environments.

Combining field recordings from across Japan, ambient compositions by Naviar Records’ community, and sounds captured during Alessi’s time in Sapporo, this installation invites listeners to experience sound as a vessel of memory, transmission, and transformation.

This immersive experience aims to highlight the importance of music as a connector that brings cultures into dialogue: a medium that transcends space and time to build bridges between distant communities.

Sound Ripples（サウンド・リップルズ） は、Marco Sebastiano Alessi によるサウンド・インスタレーションである。
本作は、アイヌの人々が育んできた文化的遺産に着想を得て生まれたものである。
Alessi とオンライン音楽コミュニティ Naviar Records のメンバーたちは、それぞれの土地に息づく伝統や記憶に目を向け、自身の風景や物語から着想を得て、音を紡いでいった。
日本各地で収録されたフィールドレコーディング、Naviar コミュニティによるアンビエント作品、Alessi が札幌滞在中に収集した音——それらが重ね合わされ、音を「記憶」「伝承」「変化」の媒介として体験する空間を構成している。
本インスタレーションは、音楽が文化と文化を結ぶ対話の手段となりうることを静かに示唆する。
時間や空間を超え、遠く離れたコミュニティに橋をかける——その可能性に耳を澄ませる試みである。
