One of my favorite authors, translated by Sōiku Shigematsu, a Japanese priest and free verse poet who also lectured and did research in the States. I came across Sōiku thanks to his essay “A Zen Harvest: Japanese Folk Zen Sayings: Haiku, Dodoitsu, and Waka“
